The year is 2013 and the game is Magic 2014: Duel of the Planeswalkers. I suppose we have impressively silly sports game convention to thank for that little gem, but why Wizards of the Coast would chose to abide by it is an entirely different story. Regardless, the next installment in the series is due out next week, and as I’ve ever so handily mentioned, it’s got some fancy new features to show off.
First up is the addition of Sealed play, a format which has been steadily growing in popularity in recent times, and is sure to add some much needed variety to the game.
Then there is the campaign, which seems to have a much healthier emphasis on story this time around, and shows off some of the new encounters you can look forward to.
The game is due out on June 26th on Steam, XBLA and PSN, and should set you back $10 or the equivalent thereof, which the internet says is €10 and £8. Clearly, the internet should have toughed it out with that high-school diploma.
