Ubisoft today gave us our first look at Assassin’s Creed Shadows, and the dual protagonists. Both characters are front and center in the trailer, giving us a good look at both of their lives and how they overlap.
Naoe, the adept shinobi Assassin from Iga Province, is joined by Yasuke, the powerful African samurai of historical legend. Setting the game against the backdrop of the turbulent late Sengoku period the duo will have to discover their common destiny if they are to usher in a new Japan.
Thanks to IGN we have have some more details to go with the cinematic trailer. A new global illumination system is being used, to fully utilize light and dark allowing players to hide in shadows from enemy vision. More options have been added for knocking out enemies for the pacifist run in all of us.
The more interesting changes are the combat and RPG systems though, with information about enemy armor having durability and pieces being able to be broken off during combat. the environment has been updated to allow for dynamic damage from your weapons, bushes and baskets will show slashes and slices. Weapons have skill trees to allow focus on one playstyle if you choose, and of course the ability to personalise your Katana.
Even more details are available in the links above, and Gameplay reveal is expected next month (Most likely during the Summergames Showcase).
Assassin’s Creed Shadows is set for release on November 15th with 3 days early access available to people paying more money (or Ubisoft+ subscribers)
